Building a Data-Informed Future

The Finance & Administration (F&A) and University Human Resources (UHR) Data Strategy program is an initiative to strengthen how we collect, manage, share, and use data. By aligning efforts, we ensure reliable, secure, and accessible information is available to those who need it, supporting informed decision-making, operational efficiency, student success, and campus safety.

Guided by F&A, UHR and Office of Research (OIR) leadership and supported by the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, this strategy builds a foundation for improved data literacy, governance, and collaboration across F&A and UHR teams.

Within this program, several groups play distinct roles in advancing our shared vision for data:

  • Executive Sponsors – Provide program oversight, high-level approvals, and promote the program across the university.
  • Data Strategy Council – Provides executive direction, sponsorship, and final approval on strategy, priorities, and policies.
  • Data Governance Committee – Serves as the operational arm of the program, carrying out the direction of the Council and ensuring data is reliable, secure, and effectively used.
  • Data Stewards, Custodians, and the Data Community of Practice – Act as contributing members who implement governance practices and support cultural adoption of data strategy across units.

This structure ensures the program is not limited to one committee but is instead a coordinated effort that integrates leadership, governance, and community engagement.
