Overview

The Data Community of Practice is a voluntary, collaborative network dedicated to building a stronger, more connected data culture within Finance & Administration (F&A) and University Human Resources (UHR).

Over the past year, this group has grown into a dynamic forum for exchanging ideas, sharing experiences, and learning from one another. It brings together colleagues from across divisions and departments who work with data in many ways—creating space for collaboration, problem-solving, and innovation.

Whether you manage systems, interpret trends, or rely on data to guide decisions, the community offers practical support and peer insight to help you succeed.

What We Do

The Data Community of Practice provides a space to:

  • Connect with peers and build a supportive network for data practitioners.
  • Collaborate by sharing challenges, successes, and lessons learned.
  • Learn through discussions, demonstrations, and expert insights.
  • Contribute to better, more effective data practices across F&A and UHR.

Starting in fall 2025, meetings will feature:

  • Topical discussions and troubleshooting sessions.
  • Demonstrations of tools and techniques.
  • Project and initiative updates that are tied to the larger F&A/UHR Data Strategy initiative.

Leadership

The Community of Practice is guided by a leadership team representing both F&A and UHR. This team helps coordinate activities, shape meeting topics, and ensure the community continues to grow as a supportive resource for data practitioners.
