Overview
The Data Governance Committee carries out the direction and decisions of the Data Strategy Council to support the F&A/UHR Data Strategy Program. Its role is to ensure:
- Governance aligns with University System of Georgia (USG) and University of Georgia (UGA) requirements.
- Standards and best practices are consistently applied across all F&A and UHR units.
- Clear roles and responsibilities for data management and accountability are in place.
- Communication about the program and initiatives reaches F&A, UHR, and other university partners.
- Data education, culture, and change management are actively supported.
- Timely progress reports and opportunities for improvement are shared with the Data Strategy Council.
What We Do
The committee is responsible for:
- Implementing decisions from the Data Strategy Council.
- Defining and maintaining standards for data quality, access, and security.
- Assigning governance roles and responsibilities.
- Documenting governance processes for transparency and consistency.
- Recommending priorities for data-related initiatives.
By putting these practices in place, the committee ensures data is compliant, accurate, and accessible to the right people at the right time.
