Overview

The Data Governance Committee carries out the direction and decisions of the Data Strategy Council to support the F&A/UHR Data Strategy Program. Its role is to ensure:

  • Governance aligns with University System of Georgia (USG) and University of Georgia (UGA) requirements.
  • Standards and best practices are consistently applied across all F&A and UHR units.
  • Clear roles and responsibilities for data management and accountability are in place.
  • Communication about the program and initiatives reaches F&A, UHR, and other university partners.
  • Data education, culture, and change management are actively supported.
  • Timely progress reports and opportunities for improvement are shared with the Data Strategy Council.

What We Do

The committee is responsible for:

  • Implementing decisions from the Data Strategy Council.
  • Defining and maintaining standards for data quality, access, and security.
  • Assigning governance roles and responsibilities.
  • Documenting governance processes for transparency and consistency.
  • Recommending priorities for data-related initiatives.

By putting these practices in place, the committee ensures data is compliant, accurate, and accessible to the right people at the right time.
