President Jere W. Morehead Remarks | May 13, 2026
Welcome from Jere W. Morehead, President of the University of Georgia
Good morning! I am thrilled to be here with the staff of Finance & Administration and University Human Resources to recognize your many important contributions to the University of Georgia.
Your work behind the scenes helps this great institution run smoothly and fulfill its critical land-grant and sea-grant missions.
This past year, the University of Georgia has had much to celebrate—record student enrollment and degree completion rates, the highest levels of research productivity and economic impact in our history, and so much more.
We could not have achieved these milestones without all of you.
You create and care for so many facilities in which UGA community members live and work. You provide the highest levels of support to our faculty, staff, students, and visitors. You make our campuses safe and beautiful. And you ensure that the business of the University is conducted ethically and efficiently.
This year, I am particularly grateful for your perseverance in the face of yet another round of winter storms.
Across F&A, from the University Architects to Facilities Management and Auxiliary Services, you have faced incredible challenges. But with continued dedication, determination, and resourcefulness, you have kept the campus safe and operational. I am deeply appreciative.
In all of your endeavors, you have combined your individual talents with those of your team members to accomplish great things on behalf of the University of Georgia.
I am proud and honored to work with each of you. Every day, you put your heart and soul into your work here on campus, and you make a positive difference in this community.
To all of today’s honorees, I would like to extend my congratulations on your extraordinary achievements. You serve as inspiring examples of leadership, teamwork, and service to all of us at the University.
Thanks again for the opportunity to be here with you, and thank you for all that you do to make the University of Georgia better!
