Finance and Administration Culture and Belonging Committee
The University of Georgia Finance & Administration Division (F&A) is dedicated to diversity, equity and inclusion as we strategically and carefully support, guard, and share the precious resources entrusted to us: people, facilities, and finances. The F&A Culture and Belonging Committee is an advisory and recommending body to the Assistant Vice President and Chief of Staff for Finance and Administration and a liaison to all F&A units across the university. The Assistant Vice President and Chief of Staff will provide leadership and guidance for the F&A Culture and Belonging Committee. The F&A Culture and Belonging Committee will be chaired by the Director of Culture and Belonging for F&A. The F&A Culture and Belonging Committee is composed of team members who have been asked to represent their respective units. The committee will work closely with the Director of Culture and Belonging to help implement the University’s Diversity and Inclusive Excellence Plan and to promote knowledge, skills, and best practices for diversity, equity and inclusion.
Vision
To create and sustain a culture within Finance and Administration that builds and promotes an inclusive, equitable, and diverse workforce that respects, supports, and celebrates a variety of experiences, cultural backgrounds, and differences among our staff.
Mission
The committee’s mission is to foster a workplace culture where diversity, equity, and inclusion are respected and valued in all interactions so that we create and sustain an environment where every member of the F&A family and our respective teams can reach their fullest potential:
Facilitate efforts to recruit, retain, and promote a diverse workforce.
Increase visibility and awareness of Finance and Administration’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Create and sustain a forum for campus-level dialogue on issues directly related to diversity and inclusion.
Charge
The committee is charged with leading, advocating, and assisting in the coordination of F&A wide efforts to enhance diversity initiatives and foster inclusive excellence.
The committee will collaborate with Finance and Administration units to:
Promote the University goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion within F&A units.
Host events and programs to promote educational opportunities on issues of diversity, inclusion, and equity (speakers, workshops, social gatherings, etc.).
Disseminate information and provide education about ongoing professional development around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Provide advice on policies and programs to advance staff diversity, including the recruiting, promoting, and retaining of a diverse workforce.
Provide input on F&A policies and procedures to address diversity, equity, and inclusion issues and recommend short & long-term strategies and practices where inequities exist.
Empower team members to build, develop, and support a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace.
Membership
Committee Structure and Responsibilities:
The Director of Culture and Belonging will be the chairperson for the committee.
The Assistant VP and Chief of Staff, in collaboration with the appropriate unit leader, will select the members of the F&A Culture and Belonging Committee.
Committee members will serve on the committee for at least 2 years.
The committee members will voluntarily serve on interview boards across the F&A Division to support and strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
